A Fond Farewell – And a Last Gift from the Signing Choir

As many of you know, the Signing Choir has now officially retired. It’s been a wonderful journey full of music, inclusion, and community, and we want to thank everyone who supported us along the way.

With the choir’s activities coming to a close, we have also closed down our bank account. Rather than let the remaining funds go unused, we chose to donate them in ways that continue the choir’s legacy of supporting the deaf community.

We are proud to share that the choir has funded the creation of a website for a local voluntary deaf community group that recently formed to become a formal community organisation. This website will help them grow, connect, and share their work more widely. Helen has generously offered to update and maintain the site free of charge as a goodwill gesture.

In addition, the choir purchased three specialised vibrating alarm clocks with bed shakers, which have now been gifted to three deaf community members. These alarms can make a real difference in everyday independence, and we were touched by how appreciative the recipients were.

Though the Signing Choir has now ended, we hope these final acts will carry on our spirit of community, empowerment, and accessibility.

With heartfelt thanks,

The Signing Choir Team
