What qualifications do I need to join the signing choir?

None. Just a williness to learn and commit to weekly rehearsals, take part in performances, fundraising events and support the ethos of the choir. We encourage you to take a formal BSL qualification with a local Deaf centre or college to be fully immersed in Deaf culture.

When are you available to interpret?

Days, evenings, weekends

Uniform

You will need to purchase your own uniform from our supplier. This is once we have mutually agreed that you wish to be an active, supportive choir member. The uniform consists of a choir t-shirt and soft shell jacket with the choir logo and smart black trousers and smart black shoes. During winter months for outside performances fine woollen/ cotton white/ cream gloves may be worn.

What are your fees?

Fees are set inline with the regional/ national rates. Bespoke assignment fees to be agreed with the client and BSL For You

Is the Signing Choir run voluntarily?

Yes It was setup and continues to be led voluntarily to give something back to the Deaf and Hearing communities; to share the love and joy of the vibrant visual language and break down communication barriers. The choir has overheads like all groups. This is paid through members subs. Performance collections go to Deaf related projects and to replace choir equipment as required.
